POSITIONING A NEW PRODUCT AS A NATURAL EXTENSION OF THE VERSATILE BRAND
I developed the creative concept for the launch of Versatile's NEMESIS utility tractor, creating a campaign designed to introduce the new product to existing Versatile customers familiar with the company's larger 4WD tractors. The campaign focused on product positioning, brand storytelling and creative direction, using a strong visual concept to communicate that NEMESIS delivered the strength and reliability associated with Versatile in a more compact and versatile package.
THE OPPORTUNITY
NEMESIS represented a new direction for Versatile, introducing a smaller utility tractor to a customer base that was more familiar with the company's larger 4WD equipment. The challenge was to make the new product feel like a natural extension of the Versatile product portfolio, rather than something disconnected from the brand's established reputation. The campaign therefore needed to communicate familiarity and credibility while giving the new product its own identity.
THE CREATIVE STRATEGY
I developed a visual concept built around a simple but powerful metaphor:
The smaller NEMESIS tractor casting the shadow of a much larger 4WD Versatile tractor. The concept communicated the central product proposition visually, without requiring a complex explanation. The larger shadow represented the strength, durability and reputation associated with Versatile's established 4WD tractors, while the smaller NEMESIS demonstrated that those qualities could be brought into a more compact utility tractor. This allowed the campaign to communicate "big tractor capability in a smaller package" through a single visual idea.
PRODUCT POSITIONING
The campaign was designed to position NEMESIS as a natural addition to the Versatile equipment portfolio. Rather than presenting the tractor as a completely new direction for the company, the creative connected it directly to qualities that existing Versatile customers already understood and valued. This was particularly important because the primary audience included existing customers who already had familiarity with the Versatile brand. The strategy was therefore based on leveraging existing brand equity to introduce a new product.
BRAND STORYTELLING
The visual metaphor allowed the campaign to tell a product story without relying heavily on technical specifications.
The relationship between the two tractors communicated:
Versatile heritage → Strength → Reliability → Compact utility
This gave the NEMESIS launch a clear narrative while maintaining a strong connection to the wider Versatile brand.
CREATIVE DEVELOPMENT
I led the creative development from initial concept through visual execution, ensuring the campaign had a strong and recognizable visual identity. The creative needed to work across marketing communications while maintaining a consistent message around the relationship between NEMESIS and the established Versatile product range. The result was a campaign concept designed to make the new product immediately understandable and visually memorable.
