Led concept development, brand identity, content creation, and animation for the launch of the Laureus Sports Awards’ first-ever promotional website. Created to support the inaugural event in 2000, the website introduced the Laureus brand to a global audience of sports fans and industry professionals, emphasizing prestige and athletic excellence.
The creative strategy centred on delivering a visually striking experience using Flash animation, which was a leading-edge technology at the time. The website opened with a 40-second animation sequence showcasing high-impact sports imagery, metrics, and dynamic motion graphics to immediately capture attention and set the tone for the brand. This transitioned into a multi-page site featuring detailed sections on the awards, sponsors, global programs, and charitable initiatives. Each section was designed with a distinct colour palette and hero image related to a specific sport, reinforcing thematic consistency across the brand.
Due to bandwidth limitations at the time, all visual assets were stylized and optimized to reduce file sizes while preserving visual impact a key consideration in early digital media production. Though performance tracking tools like Google Analytics didn’t exist yet, the site’s success was evaluated through industry reception and stakeholder engagement.
